"You need to get laid."
Hali Lukos dragged her gaze away from Dr. Julian McManus's
retreating back-such a lovely broad back with such a
nice firm butt displayed so well in his dress slacks-and
scowled at her co-worker. "What the hell are you
talking about?"
"You've been staring after that man's ass for
six months now," Lydia said. "Have you gone
out with anyone else since he started working here?
Have you had one orgasm in the last six months that
wasn't self-induced?"
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"You need to get laid. You need to relax. And you
need to stop swooning over a man who doesn't know you
exist. As far as he's concerned, you're a security guard,
a uniform like any of a dozen other uniforms in this
building."
Hali winced at the accuracy of Lydia's comment. They
worked for one of the largest research and development
conglomerates in the Consortium of Planets. Stationed
on Earth, in London England, it was one of the most

could get in private security. She'd worked her way out of poor
gentility on a backwater planet to second-in-command of the
day shift, making an excellent salary. She had succeeded beyond
her own expectations in her chosen career.
But compared to the prestige and success of the scientists working
for Roen Waters, Inc., she might as well have been an Andylican
flutter bug. Hali looked at the console in front of her and groaned.
Lydia was right. She'd been pining after a man she'd exchanged
exactly ten words with. And while they'd been good words, words
that let her know what a decent and sexy man he was, she obviously
hadn't left enough of an impression for him to notice her a second
time.
"I'm sorry, sweetie," Lydia said, patting her arm.
"What you need is some good, hard sex to get over him."
"I can't afford to have a one night stand in this city,"
she said with a tired sigh. "I let a stranger pick me up
in a bar, he could be anyone. You know how they are about corporate
espionage at Roen Waters. I'd be sacked in a matter of hours."
"So get out of the city. You've earned a holiday. Put in
for a couple of days off and go somewhere else."
"And where exactly would I go to avoid any hint of impropriety?"
She shook her head. "There are spies on and off planet, Lydia.
There's nowhere I could go for casual sex without coming under
suspicion." And that sucked most of all. Because Lydia was
right. Hali needed to get laid. She needed a good hard fuck to
get her mind off Dr. Julian McManus and her ever more elaborate
daydreams. Maybe if she could find another man who got her as
hot and bothered as the doctor, she could get past the idea that
she felt more for Julian than just lust.
If she couldn't, she was in deep trouble.
"I have an idea." Lydia smiled, a particularly lascivious
grin, and scanned the huge, marble-covered entryway they manned.
"You've heard of Tantalizing Time Travels?"
