Isabo Kelly has written a fantasy romance so intriguing I often forgot it was supposed to be fantasy. Her realistic and fully formed world allowed me to sink right into the story without distraction. Primary and secondary characters spring to life from their first introduction and retain reader interest until the end. The relationship between Jacob and Victoria proved especially pleasing because of the manner in which they relate to each other. As a general, the commander of the King's elite security force and an older male, I expected Jacob to be quite alpha, and he is. However, his intelligence and maturity counter the macho need to demonstrate his manhood, allowing him to accept and support the highly capable, independent Victoria. Not that he's perfect. (He is a man, after all.)

A creative, fast-moving, fantasy adventure, THIEF'S DESIRE will keep you scrolling to the surprising end.

A fast-paced fantasy romance filled with warmth and love. Victoria and Jacob are tender, fun, passionate, and supportive. With some suspense and violence, these two never lose sight of each other, or their senses of humor."

Vic Flash is a talented street thief and gambler. When she is forced into hiding from a rival gang's leader, Big Charlie, she must find a different way to survive until it is safe for her to return to the streets again. Her salvation comes in the form of a handsome King's Own who hires her for her stealthy talents. Vic soon finds herself launched on a deadly quest against smugglers, blood magician's, and goblins…Vic and Jacob are two fascinating characters brought to life in this magical tale filled with intrigue, humor and romance. I love the irony of Jacob admiring Vic's courage but then wanting to squash it in order to protect her as he sees it. A classic romance mixed with an imaginative plot makes this a must-read romantic fantasy. THIEF'S DESIRE will grab your attention and keep you spell-bound to the final, satisfying conclusion.

I found THIEF'S DESIRE to be a very entertaining story. The developing relationship between Victoria and Jacob is a hoot. Because of past experiences both are trying to fight their feelings only to be drawn closer together. Of course, no path to love is smooth and this one is no different. Full of angst, humor, danger and loss Victoria and Jacob slowly find their way to each other and solve the mystery of the prophecy. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes stories of other worlds filled with magic and unusual creatures.

Outstanding is one word that comes to mind for this book. The repartee between Vic and Jacob is engaging as an old Hepburn / Grant movie, and the plot moves along quickly, with no wasted tedious events designed to stretch it to epic levels. The quest does not plod on forever, as many of this genre do. It is also welcome to have conventional names. Every character sparkled with real life reactions, and I enjoyed the transformation from ruffian to lady Vic underwent, though it did not change her essential personality, fortunately. I hope this is the beginning of a series, as the potential is left wide open for one.

This is a well-plotted, often exciting story with great action, fine
characters and truly horrible villains.

"Thief's Desire" is a true gem of a book. The characters of Victoria and Jacob are well drawn and detailed enough for the reader to get a clear image of them. Victoria's motivations are well thought out and her feelings for Jacob are completely believable…and understandable. Also a plus is Victoria's gutsy personality. She never sat around waiting for things to happen, but was a take-charge character who made things happen.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Thief's Desire" and recommend it to anyone looking for a well-written, fantasy driven romance.

THIEF'S DESIRE is a grand, desperate adventure and the first in the Fate's Hand Trilogy. Ms. Kelly's work echoes that of Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover Series, beloved by many readers…. The romance develops slowly but once the adventure begins, it becomes passionate and deeply emotional. The battle scenes are exciting and move at a fast pace."
